Louie Ramírez, born on February 24, 1938, in New York City, was an American salsa and latin jazz percussionist, vibraphonist, arranger and composer. After studying classical piano, he shifted to Latin music following a Noro Morales concert. Ramírez began his career with the Joe Loco Quintet and Vicentico Valdés Band, contributing to Johnny Pacheco's debut album Pacheco y su Charanga Vol. I. His first solo album, Introducing Louie Ramírez, was released in 1964. Throughout the late 1960s and early 1970s, he collaborated with artists like Charlie Palmieri and Joe Cuba. He died on June 7, 1993.
