Bruno Campanella, born on January 6, 1943, in Bari, Italy, is an Italian conductor known for his expertise in classical music. He studied composition under Nino Rota and Luigi Dallapiccola, and conducting with Hans Swarowsky and Thomas Schippers. Campanella gained international recognition in the late 1970s as a specialist in Belcanto. He has performed at prestigious venues such as La Scala in Milan, the Metropolitan Opera of NYC, and the Royal Opera House in London. From 1992 to 1995, he served as principal conductor at the Teatro Regio di Torino and became principal guest conductor. In 2002, Campanella was awarded the title of Officier de l’ Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture. Notable recordings include Bel Canto (Kathleen Battle Sings Italian Opera Arias) (1993).
