The Techniques were a Jamaican rocksteady vocal group formed in 1962 by Winston Riley. The initial lineup included Slim Smith, Franklyn White, and Frederick Waite. Their breakthrough came with the release of their first single “No One” in 1963, followed by their Jamaican debut in 1965 under producer Duke Reid. Notable singles from this period include “Don't Leave Me”, “When You Are Wrong”, and “Little Did You Know”. Smith left the group in 1966 to pursue a solo career, and Pat Kelly joined as his replacement. They achieved significant success with hits like “You Don't Care” and “Queen Majesty” between 1967 and 1968. Riley established his own Techniques record label in 1968, producing music for the group and other artists. Notable albums include Little Did You Know (1967) and the compilation Queen Majesty (2007).
