Farmakon was a Finnish progressive death metal band based in Tampere, Finland and formed in 2001. The group's origins date back to the spring of 2000 when Marko Eskola expressed interest in guttural singing after Toni Salminen performed the Opeth song "Still Life". The initial lineup included Eskola on vocals, Salminen on guitar, Riku Airisto on drums, and Lassi Paunonen on guitar. Farmakon released their debut album, A Warm Glimpse, in 2003 under Elitist Records, which was part of Earache Records. The band's second album, Robin, followed in 2007 through Four Seasons Records after a label change due to the dissolution of Elitist Records. Despite lineup changes and plans for a third album titled Syan, Farmakon disbanded in September 2010 without releasing it.
