György Fejér, known professionally as George Feyer, was born on October 27, 1908, in Hungary. He was a classically trained pianist who later transitioned to light music. Feyer studied at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music and the Budapest Conservatory of Music, where his teachers included Ernő Dohnányi, Zoltán Kodály, and Béla Bartók. His early career involved accompanying silent films and performing in nightclubs across Europe. Feyer's first album, Echoes of Paris, was released in 1953 on Vox Records, marking the beginning of a prolific recording career that included numerous "Echoes of..." albums such as Echoes of Budapest (1953), Echos De Vienne (1953), and Echoes of Latin America (1954). In 1955, he signed with The Carlyle hotel in New York City to perform at their Café Carlyle. Feyer's performances there spanned 13 years until 1968 when Bobby Short took over his spot. He passed away on October 21, 2001.
