Saschko Gawriloff, born Siegfried Jordan Gawriloff on October 20, 1929, in Leipzig, Germany, is a violinist who received his initial training from his father and later studied under Hans Hilf, Walther Davisson, Gustav Havemann, and Martin Kovacz. He began his professional career as concertmaster of the Dresden Philharmonic in 1947. Gawriloff held similar positions with notable orchestras including the Berlin Philharmonic and the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra. His international recognition grew through awards such as the second prize at the Paganini Competition in Genoa (1959) and the Cultural Advancement Award of the City of Nuremberg (1960). Gawriloff's teaching career included professorships at Nuremberg, Northwest German Music Academy in Detmold, Folkwang School in Essen, and Cologne University of Music.
