Scholars Baroque Ensemble, an English a cappella group formed in 1987 by former Scholars of London founder David Van Asch, specialized in early classical repertoire and performed without a conductor. Their discography includes Handel's The Messiah (1992), Monteverdi's Vespers of the Blessed Virgin (1995), Purcell's Dido and Aeneas (1998), and Handel's Dixit Dominus (also Salve Regina and Nisi Dominus) (1999).
