Ahmad Pejman, born July 9, 1935, in Lar, Iran, was an Iranian contemporary classical composer known for his operas, orchestral works, ballets, and film music. He studied composition at the Music Academy in Vienna, where the Vienna Chamber Orchestra and the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra performed his early works. In 1967, he was commissioned to write Rustic Festival, which premiered at Tehran’s Rudaki Hall. Returning to Iran, he composed the opera Hero of Sahand (1968). Pejman moved to New York in 1976 and later to Los Angeles in 1984, continuing his work in various musical genres. Notable compositions include the cantata Khorramshahr (1992) and the ballet Seven Hurdles of Rostam (1996). Pejman composed scores for films such as Veiled Threat (1986) and Baran (2001), and his recordings, such as Memories of Tomorrow, highlight his diverse output. Pejman died on August 29, 2025 in Los Angeles.
