Henry Per-Erik Theel, born on November 14, 1917 in Helsinki, Finland, was a Finnish singer. He achieved success with a recording of Arvo Koskimaa’s tango, "Syyspihlajan alla", in 1942. In 1945, Theel started collaborating with composer Toivo Kärki, and by the end of 1950, he recorded over 250 songs. Between 1946 and 1952, Theel and Kärki toured Finland extensively, gaining fame for their performances including their rendition of "Punainen mylly". Despite a vocal injury that forced him to take a break in the late 1950s, Theel returned to recording in the early 1960s with notable hits such as "Sellanen ol 'Viipuri" and "Tangokavaljeeri". Throughout his career, he recorded over five hundred songs in multiple languages including Finnish, Swedish, Italian, and Spanish. He died on December 19, 1989.
