The Slovak Chamber Orchestra, founded in 1960 in Bratislava, Slovakia, is a chamber orchestra established within the framework of the Slovak Philharmonic. The ensemble was created by violinist and conductor Bohdan Warchal, initially consisting of 11 string musicians who performed without a conductor. In 1966, the orchestra became independent. Under Warchal's leadership from 1960 to 2001, the orchestra premiered over 70 works, including Viktor Kalabis' Tristium in 1966. Ewald Danel took over as artistic director and solo violinist in 2001. The orchestra released several notable albums, including Galuppi Scarlatti Vivaldi (1973), Allegro (1977), and Telemann: Concerto in D Major for 3 Violins/La Lyra (Suite for Strings)/Suite in D Major for Cello and Strings (1977).
