Bruno Lauzi was an Italian singer-songwriter, poet, and writer. Born on August 8, 1937, in Asmara, Italian East Africa, he grew up in Genoa and became part of the Genoese school of singer-songwriters alongside artists including Gino Paoli and Luigi Tenco. He achieved success with the release of the single “Ritornerai” (1963). His notable songs include “Amore caro amore bello” (1972) and “Onda su onda” (1974). He released albums including Lauzi al cabaret (1965), Genova per noi (1975), and Nostaljazz (2003). He wrote songs for other prominent artists including Mia Martini, Ornella Vanoni, and Gabriella Ferri. During the 1980s, he pursued a political career with the Italian Liberal Party. After suffering from Parkinson's disease, he died on October 24, 2006, in Peschiera Borromeo, Italy, from liver cancer.
