Anne Kristine Linnet, known as Anne Linnet, is a Danish singer, musician, and songwriter born on July 30, 1953, in Århus, Denmark. She began her career in 1969 performing folk rock and joined the Århus-based band Tears from 1971 to 1976. In 1973, she co-founded the all-female band Shit & Chanel, which released four albums including the hit song “Smuk og dejlig”. Following the band's split, she formed the Anne Linnet Band from 1981 to 1982, and subsequently created the Marquis de Sade new wave band in 1983. In 1986, she released the song “Barndommens gade” for the film Early Spring, which won the Robert Award for film score of the year. She founded the Pladecompagniet record company at the turn of 1986, which she sold to Sony in 1994. Her notable albums include Jeg er jo lige her (1988), which sold over 400,000 copies, and Akvarium (2007), which reached Number 1 on the Danish record chart. Her musical works are featured in the Danish Culture Canon.
