Jack Gibbons, born on March 2, 1962 in England, is an English-born American classical composer and virtuoso pianist. He began his piano studies in Stockton-on-Tees and continued at Oxford University, making his public debut at age 10 and performing for the first time in London at 17 with an entire concert dedicated to Charles-Valentin Alkan. At 20, he won the first prize at the Newport International Pianoforte Competition with Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4. Gibbons gained recognition for his annual Gershwin concerts from 1990 to 2005, premiering over 48 reconstructed works by George Gershwin. He released several notable albums, including the compilation album The Authentic George Gershwin in 2004 and Alkan: 12 Études Op. 39 in 2005.
