Matthieu Saglio, born in 1977, is a French cellist and composer known for his work in jazz and world music. He earned a gold medal from the Conservatory of Rennes in 1995 before transitioning to jazz in 1996. In 2002, Saglio moved to Valencia, Spain, where he formed the influential flamenco-jazz fusion group Jerez Texas with Ricardo Esteve and Jesús Gimeno. The trio released five albums and performed over 500 concerts across 25 countries. Saglio's solo career includes notable projects such as Cello Solo (2009), which showcased his unique musical universe, and collaborations with various artists, including Fathi Ben Yakoub, Abdoulaye N’Diaye, and Nesrine Belmokh. His work has been recognized internationally, with albums like El Camino de los Vientos (2020) receiving critical acclaim and garnering millions of streams on platforms like Spotify.
