Roy Milton, born Roy Bunny Milton on July 31, 1907, in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, was an American R&B and jump blues singer, drummer, and bandleader. He joined the Ernie Fields band in the late 1920s and later formed his own band, the Solid Senders, after moving to Los Angeles in 1933. Milton's breakthrough came with "R.M. Blues" in 1945, which reached number 2 on the Billboard R&B chart and helped establish Art Rupe's Specialty Records. He recorded 19 top 10 R&B hits, including "Hop, Skip and Jump" (1948) and "Information Blues" (1950). Milton left Specialty in 1955 and continued performing, appearing at the Monterey Jazz Festival in 1970 with Johnny Otis' band. He resumed recording in the 1970s for Kent Records and Black & Blue Records. Milton died in Los Angeles on September 18, 1983.
