Gareth Valentine is a Welsh composer, arranger, conductor, and musical director. Born on November 22, 1956, in Cefn Mawr, Wales, he graduated from the Royal College of Music in London and later studied with Sir Peter Pears at Aldeburgh. His career began with extensive work in London's West End, where he contributed to musical productions including Cats, Miss Saigon, and Chicago. He served as the composer and music supervisor for the pantomime Aladdin at the Old Vic, starring Ian McKellen and Roger Allam. He composed Requiem, which was recorded at Abbey Road Studios and performed worldwide. He conducted orchestras globally, including the BBC Concert Orchestra and the Welsh National Opera Orchestra. He also arranged George Gershwin's music for the ballet Strictly Gershwin, which was presented in 2008 at the Royal Albert Hall. His work includes the television series Musicality, and he collaborated on Brynfest with Bryn Terfel.
