Wolfgang Manz, born on August 6, 1960 in Haan bei Düsseldorf, Germany, is a German pianist and music educator. He grew up in Solingen and began piano training in 1966, later receiving instruction from Drahomir Toman. During his school years, he won second prize at the national level of the Jugend musiziert competition in 1978. He studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover in the piano class of Karl-Heinz Kämmerling, while also studying composition under Friedrich Radermacher in Cologne and Alfred Koerppen in Hannover until 1986. His career launched with prizes at various prestigious competitions, including first prize at the Steinway-Wettbewerb in Hamburg in 1979, and second prizes in Leeds in 1981 and Brussels in 1983. He performed worldwide, including a performance at the Prom Concerts in London in 1984. He held a substitute professorship at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe from 1994 to 1998, and a guest professorship at Ferris University in Yokohama for a semester in 2000. He was appointed to a piano professorship at the state Hochschule für Musik Nürnberg in 2000. His recorded output includes the albums Brahms: Klavierkonzerte Nr. 1 d-moll op. 15 und Nr. 2 B-Dur op. 83, Liszt Recital: Klavierwerke von Franz Liszt, and Johannes Brahms: Späte Klavierzyklen.
