Leon Clément Doucet, born April 9, 1895, in Brussels, Belgium, was a pianist who began his musical education at the Brussels Conservatory before performing on ships and in cabarets. His breakthrough came in 1923 when he met Jean Wiener in Paris; the duo performed on two pianos at the Théâtre des Champs‑Élysées and over 15 years gave over 2,000 performances, notably at Le Bœuf sur le toit, blending classical repertoire with jazz interpretations such as Chopinata. After the war, Doucet’s career waned, and he passed away on October 15, 1950, in relative obscurity. In 2013, a posthumous album, Les Années Folles, was released, preserving his contribution to early French jazz.
