Maria Alejandra Barrientos Llopis, born on March 4, 1884, in Barcelona, Spain, was a soprano coloratura known for her operatic performances. She received extensive musical training at the Barcelona Municipal School of Music and made her debut at age 15 as Ines in L'Africaine at the Teatre Novedades. Barrientos quickly gained recognition across Europe, performing roles such as Marguerite de Valois in Les Huguenots. Her career included notable triumphs at the Metropolitan Opera, where she debuted in 1916 as Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor, and made recordings for Fonotipia Records and Columbia Records. She died on August 8, 1946, in Ciboure, France.
