John's Children

John's Children, an English rock band, was formed in 1965 in Leatherhead. The original lineup included Chris Townson on drums and Andy Ellison on vocals. Initially known as Clockwork Onions, they changed their name to John’s Children in mid-1966 after signing with Simon Napier-Bell, manager of The Yardbirds. Their debut single, "Smashed Blocked/Strange Affair", known as "The Love I Thought I'd Found" in the UK, was released in 1966 and reached regional charts in Florida and California. In 1967, their single "Just What You Want – Just What You'll Get" entered the British Top 40. Marc Bolan joined as a guitarist in March 1967, composing and singing on "Desdemona". The band disbanded in 1968, but reformed in the mid-1990s with a reformed lineup.
