Cornelius Hauptmann, born on June 14, 1951, in Stuttgart, Germany, is a German opera and concert singer. He studied at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart and debuted at the Staatstheater Stuttgart in 1982. As a freelance concert and opera singer, he performed extensively in major European cities, collaborating with notable conductors including Gardiner, Mehta, Haenchen, Nagano, Piollet, Marriner, and others. His notable recordings include works by Bach, Mozart, Schumann, Beethoven, and many others. Hauptmann initiated the Wiegenliederprojekt in 2008, which involved 52 singers performing 52 lullabies, supported by figures like Angela Merkel. He has been recognized with awards such as the "Gräfin-Sonja-Gedächtnispreis" and served as President of the Deutscher Tonkünstlerverband from April 2014 to September 2021.
