Kepa Junkera Urraza, born on April 10, 1965, in Bilbao, Vizcaya, is a Basque musician and composer known for his mastery of the trikitixa. Junkera's first album, Triki Up, with Zabaleta and Imanol, was released in 1990. Throughout the 1990s, he blended trikitixa with jazz and other genres in albums like Trikitixa Zoom (1991) and Trans Europe Diatonique (1993). In 1998, Junkera released Bilbao hora 00:00h, a tribute to his hometown featuring over 40 musicians. His album K (2003), recorded live at the Teatro Arriaga, won the Latin Grammy for Best Folk Album. Notable collaborations include Etxea (2008) with artists like Estrella Morente and Miguel Bosé, and Kalea (2009) featuring Juanes and Lila Downs. Junkera has received numerous awards, including the Eduardo Martínez Torner Folklore Prize in 2003.
