Laurence Boulay, born on January 19, 1925, in Boulogne-Billancourt, France, was a harpsichordist and musicologist. She studied at the Conservatoire de Paris from 1948 to 1953, excelling in various disciplines including harmony, counterpoint-fugue, history of music, and esthetics. She taught at the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional de Boulogne-Billancourt from 1956 to 1961 and later prepared a thesis on musicology. In 1968, she established the class of basso continuo at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris, where she taught until 1990. Her career included performances with ensembles like Le Rondeau de Paris and tours in Germany and Scandinavia. Notable recordings include l'enregistrement des Leçons de ténèbres (à l'orgue d'accompagnement) and l'intégrale de l'œuvre pour clavecin de François Couperin. She passed away on January 29, 2007, in the 15th arrondissement of Paris.
