Iris was an American synthpop band formed in 1993 by Reagan Jones and Matthew Morris. Originally performing under the name Forgiving Iris, the duo began playing cover songs in Austin, Texas. The ensemble released its debut studio album, Disconnect, in 2000, which received the awards for Best Band and Best Album at the American Synthpop Awards. The recording featured the single “Annie, Would I Lie To You?”. In 2002, Morris was replaced by the musician Andrew Sega, who incorporated guitars and influenced the group’s transition toward experimental electronic music. Their recording history included the studio albums Awakening (2003), Wrath (2005) and Blacklight (2010). The single “Appetite” (2005) reached Number 1 on mainstream radio in Poland. The ensemble subsequently signed with the label Dependent Records and released the studio recordings Radiant (2014) and Six (2019). Iris disbanded in 2021 due to personal differences between the members.
