Pavol Hammel is a Slovak singer, songwriter, and producer born on December 7, 1948, in Bratislava. He achieved professional recognition for a musical career characterized by pop, rock, and big beat and for his leadership of the ensemble Prúdy. Hammel achieved professional recognition for a career that began after he studied the violin in his youth and transitioned to the guitar at age 16. He achieved professional recognition for founding the ensemble Prúdy in 1963 and recording the song “Spievam si pieseň” (1965). His recording career included the debut studio recording Zvoňte, zvonky (1969) and collaborating with the musician Marián Varga on five studio recordings since 1972. Hammel achieved professional recognition for collaborating with the lyricist Kamil Peteraj and the lyricist Boris Filan. He achieved professional recognition for winning a Gold Bratislavská lýra in 1978 and a Silver Bratislavská lýra in 1983. He achieved professional recognition for establishing the agency Rock Pop Bratislava in 1994 and the agency Rock Production Bratislava in 1999. Hammel achieved professional recognition for receiving the Pavel Strauss Award in 2008 and completing legal studies at Comenius University in Bratislava in 1976.
