The Ganjas, a neo-psychedelic rock band from Santiago, Chile, was formed in 2000 by Samuel "Sam" Maquieira on vocals and guitar, Rafael "Pape" Astaburuaga on bass and vocals, and Aldo Benincasa on drums. Their debut performance took place on November 1, 2001. In 2004, they released their self-titled debut album under Irrepetible Discos, which included notable singles "Let's Go to the Beach" and "Darkside". The following year saw the release of the electroacoustic EP Fuma y Mira. In 2005, they released Lay Down through Algo Records. The band's subsequent albums included Daybreak (2007), Loose (2009), Resistance (2011), and After Dark (2014). In 2022, Luciano Mariño, a member of the band's sister group The Versions, returned to the lineup as guitarist. That year, the band also recorded songs, along with the return of Aldo B. on drums.
