Lady Godiva, a German-Irish folk-rock band from Arnsberg, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany, was formed in 1994 by friends inspired by The Pogues. They named themselves after the Velvet Underground song "Lady Godiva’s Operation" and performed at a local parish festival just three months later. The band released their debut album, Whisky You’re The Devil..., in 1996, followed by Tales of Kings and Boozers in 1998. Notable songs include "One Whisky" from their first album and a cover of "The Unknown Stuntman" (2002). Lady Godiva gained significant recognition with their rock version of the Christmas song "In der Weihnachtsbäckerei", which topped the peoplesound.de-X-Mas-Charts. The band disbanded in January 2006 after nearly twelve years of performances across Germany and neighboring countries. On November 15, 2013, the band announced via Facebook that they would reunite for a one-off concert in Arnsberg on April 20, 2014, to celebrate their 20th anniversary.
