Gary Myrick, born in Dallas, Texas, is an American musician known for his work as a guitarist. He began playing guitar and singing in Dallas and Fort Worth during his teenage years. Myrick's breakthrough came when he joined the Austin, Texas band Krackerjack, replacing Stevie Ray Vaughan. After leaving Krackerjack and relocating to Los Angeles, Myrick formed Gary Myrick & the Figures, releasing their self-titled debut album in 1980, which included the hit "She Talks in Stereo". The band released Living in a Movie (1981) before disbanding in 1982. Myrick's solo EP Language (1983) featured an MTV hit, "Message is You". He then formed Havana 3 am with Paul Simonon and Nigel Dixon. After Dixon's death in 1993, Myrick rebuilt the band and completed Texas Glitter and Tombstone Tales (1996). His solo release Waltz of the Scarecrow King (2001) featured a stripped-down acoustic approach.
