Wrongkong, a German-Canadian pop band, was formed in 2007 in Nuremberg. The group consisted of Thomas Wurm, Cyrena Dunbar, and Martin Kaiser, who were later joined by David Lodhi, Markus Wurm, and Claus Friedrich. Their name was derived from an altered version of "Hong Kong," reflecting a sense of displacement. Wrongkong gained early recognition from winning the award for Best Unsigned Electronic Music Act at the Cravefest in Canada for the video "Real Boy" in 2007. Their self-titled debut album was released in 2008. Shortly after, they won the Toronto Exclusive Award and the Becks On Stage competition. Their subsequent releases included My Dearest Enemy (2012) and Kill the Should and Make a Do (2013). Wrongkong received the Cultural Promotion Prize of the City of Nuremberg in 2012. The band disbanded in 2017 after playing two sold-out farewell concerts.
