Mira Kubasińska-Nalepa was born on 8 September 1944 in Bodzechów and became one of Poland's leading blues-rock vocalists. She first gained attention after winning the radio talent show Microphone for Everyone and later performed with the Porfirion cabaret. In 1965, she co-founded the band Blackout with Tadeusz Nalepa and Stan Borys before its transformation into Breakout in 1968. Her powerful vocals helped popularize songs such as "Wyspa," "Na drugim brzegu tęczy," "Poszłabym za tobą," and "Gdybyś kochał, hej," the latter topping Polish radio charts and receiving a special award at the 1969 National Festival of Polish Song in Opole. After Breakout disbanded in 1982, she performed occasionally before regularly collaborating with After Blues in the 1990s. Kubasińska died of a stroke on 25 October 2005.
