La Grande Écurie et la Chambre du Roy, a French instrumental ensemble, was founded in 1966 by Jean‑Claude Malgoire and established in Tourcoing where it began maintaining a residency in 1981. The group’s early work focused on baroque repertoire, quickly gaining recognition for its authentic interpretations of Handel, Charpentier, and Rameau. The ensemble released landmark recordings such as Handel: Music for the Royal Fireworks (1974) and Monteverdi: Vespro Della Beata Vergine (1981). They also earned the Grand prix Gustave Charpentier‑Orphée d’or for Rinaldo (1977). The group expanded its discography with titles like Rameau: Platée (1988) and Mozart: Requiem (2005), collaborating with renowned vocalists and orchestras. In 2017, the ensemble released a commemorative collection marking its 50th anniversary.
