Tomaž Pengov, born on September 29, 1949, in Ljubljana, Slovenia, was a singer-songwriter and musician. He studied comparative literature at the University of Ljubljana's Faculty of Arts. Pengov recorded his first album, Odpotovanja, in 1973, which is considered the first independently released record in former Yugoslavia. His music, characterized by acoustic instruments like the lute, steel-string guitar, and twelve-string guitar, was noted for its originality. Pengov released his second album, Pripovedi, in 1988, which featured guest musicians and a more varied acoustic sound. In the 1990s, he released two more albums, Rimska cesta (1992) and Biti tu (1996). Pengov also published an audiobook titled Drevo in zvezda, featuring his poetry, in 2011. He passed away on February 10, 2014.
