Lisa Beznosiuk was born on 20 August 1956 in Sheffield, United Kingdom, and is an English flautist of Ukrainian and Irish descent. She trained at the Guildhall School of Music in London, studying modern flute with Kathryn Lukas and wooden flute with Stephen Preston, which sparked her interest in early period instruments. Beznosiuk made her solo London debut in 1983, has performed with period‑instrument ensembles such as The English Concert and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, and recorded works, including Handel : 20 Sonatas Opus 1 (1995) and Bach : The Complete Flute Sonatas (2002). She has held professorships in early flutes at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, the Royal Academy of Music, the Royal College of Music, the Royal Northern College of Music, and the University of Birmingham.
