Louis Devos

Louis Devos, born on June 15, 1926 in Brussels, Belgium, was a Belgian operatic tenor and conductor. His debut as a tenor came in 1950 at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, performing the role of Tom Rakewell in The Rake’s Progress by Igor Stravinsky. Devos’s recording career includes a series of Baroque and classical releases, including Schütz: Historia Der Auferstehung Jesu Christi (1981) and Charpentier: Mors Saulis & Jonathae (La Mort De Saul Et De Jonathas) (1982). He collaborated with major orchestras and conducted Charpentier’s Requiem and Gossec’s Grande Messe des Morts. Devos passed away on January 22, 2015 at age 88.
