Stella Doufexis, born on April 15, 1968, in Frankfurt, Germany, was a mezzo-soprano singer known for her work in opera and recitals. She began performing with pop ensembles while studying at the Berlin University of the Arts under Ingrid Figur. From 1995 to 1997, Doufexis was a member of the Heidelberg Theatre ensemble, where she played Chérubin in Le Nozze di Figaro. She performed extensively across Europe, including notable roles at the Opéra Comique Berlin and appearances at festivals such as Lucerne and Aldeburgh. Her repertoire included works by Franz Schubert, Robert Schumann, Maurice Ravel, and Richard Strauss. Doufexis collaborated with conductors like Claudio Abbado, Bernard Haitink, and Zubin Mehta. In 2014, she was appointed professor of singing at the Robert Schumann University of Music in Düsseldorf. Stella Doufexis passed away on December 15, 2015, at age 47 after a long illness.
