Rod Taylor, born on March 2, 1957, in Kingston, Jamaica, is a Jamaican reggae singer and producer. He began his career by briefly forming a group called The Aliens with Barry Brown and Johnny Lee before recording his first single, “Bad Man Comes and Goes” (1975), for producer Ossie Hibbert. He achieved success through Bertram Brown's Freedom Sounds label, releasing the hit single “Ethiopian Kings”, which led him to work with Mikey Dread. He subsequently collaborated with various producers in the late 1970s and early 1980s, including Prince Far I, Ossie Hibbert, Prince Hammer, and Nigger Kojak. His debut studio album, If Jah Should Come Now, was released in 1979, followed by Where Is Your Love Mankind in 1980. After a few quiet years, he reappeared in the late 1980s, and his subsequent album releases include One in a Million (1989), The Prophet Rise Again (1989), Shining Bright (2002), and Hold on Strong (2009). He also performed with various sound systems and groups, such as the French ensemble Positive Roots Band.
