Robin Blaze, born January 11, 1971 in Manchester, England, is a British countertenor. He was educated at Leeds Grammar School and Magdalen College, Oxford, where he recorded with the Dufay Consort. After graduating, Blaze won a scholarship for postgraduate studies at the Royal College of Music. His opera roles include Anfinomo in Monteverdi's Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria at the Teatro Sao Carlos in Lisbon, Narciso in Handel's Agrippina in Karlsruhe, and Athamas in Handel's Semele at the Royal Opera House. Blaze has collaborated with notable conductors such as Harry Christophers, John Eliot Gardiner, and René Jacobs. His discography includes over 50 solo recordings, notably the complete Bach cantata series for Masaaki Suzuki and a series of song recitals with Elizabeth Kenny.
