Gala Évora, born on February 8, 1983, in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Cádiz province, Spain, is a Spanish singer and actress. She made her film debut at the age of eight in El día que nací yo. Évora's music career began as a member of the pop group Papá Levante, with whom she released several successful albums, including Tomalacaté (2000), which featured hit songs "Me pongo colorada" and "Practicar sexo", and Sopla levante (2003). In 2005, the group released Pa ti, pa mí, with the hit single "Chiquilla". Évora's first solo album, Agua y luz (2008), included collaborations with Carlos Sanlúcar and covers by artists such as Salif Keita and Lila Downs. Her acting career includes notable roles in films like Lola (2007), for which she received a Goya nomination for Best New Actress, and Madre Amadísima (2010).
