The Revolutionaries, a Jamaican reggae band formed in 1975, were based at Channel One studio under producer Joseph Hoo Kim. The group featured Sly Dunbar on drums and Bertram "Ranchie" McLean on bass, who brought a distinctive rockers style to the formation. Initially succeeding Skin, Flesh and Bones, the Revolutionaries included notable musicians such as Robbie Shakespeare, Radcliffe "Dougie" Bryan on guitar, Ossie Hibbert, Errol "Tarzan" Nelson, Robert "Robbie" Lyn or Ansel Collins on keyboards, Uziah "Count Sticky" Thompson and Noel "Scully" Simms on percussion. The band's name reflected the political climate of Jamaica during the 1970s under Michael Manley's PNP government. They released several influential albums including Green Bay Dub (1979) and Burning Dub (1979).
