The Prodigals is an American Irish punk and rock band from New York City established in 1997. The ensemble consists of the vocalist and button accordionist Gregory Grene, the bassist Andrew Harkin, the drummer Brian Tracey, and the guitarist and vocalist Dave Fahy. Grene, Harkin, and Tracey were founding members of the group and Fahy joined the ensemble in 2009. The musicians have been frequently joined by the musician Alex Grene. Their recording career began with the debut studio recording The Prodigals (1997) followed by the studio recording Go On (1999). The ensemble subsequently released the studio recording Dreaming in Hell's Kitchen (2001), which was produced by the musician Johnny Cunningham. Their discography included the studio recording Needs Must When the Devil Drives (2003), produced by the musician Howie Beno, and the studio recording Brothers (2016). The ensemble reached professional recognition for the songs “Open Reel” and “The Bunch of Red Roses”, which were featured in the movie Pride and Glory (2008). The Prodigals has performed professional tours of North America.
