The Glass House was an American soul group from Detroit formed in 1969. The band was assembled by Holland-Dozier-Holland for the Invictus Records label and consisted of Ty Hunter, Scherrie Payne, Sylvia Smith, Larry Mitchell, and Pearl Jones. Their breakthrough recording, the single “Crumbs Off the Table” (1969), reached number 7 on the R&B chart and number 59 on the US Billboard Hot 100. In 1971, the group released the album Inside the Glass House. The recording of the single “Touch Me Jesus” (1971) was the subject of a lawsuit by the group The Blossoms over crediting disputes. The ensemble released the album Thanks I Needed That (1972), which featured a single of the same name that reached number 47 on the R&B chart. The group became inactive in 1972. Hunter subsequently joined the group The Originals and Payne joined The Supremes.
