Cy Coleman, born Seymour Kaufman on June 14, 1929, in New York City, was an American composer, songwriter, and jazz pianist. Raised in the Bronx, he started his musical career as a child prodigy, performing at venues like Steinway Hall and Carnegie Hall. Coleman led the Cy Coleman Trio before transitioning to Broadway. He collaborated with Carolyn Leigh on hits like "Witchcraft" and "The Best Is Yet to Come". His Broadway debut was Wildcat (1960), featuring Lucille Ball. Notable works include Little Me, Sweet Charity, and City of Angels. He won consecutive Tony Awards for Best Score for City of Angels (1989) and The Will Rogers Follies (1991). Coleman passed away on November 18, 2004.
