The Shanes, a pop group and dance band from Sweden, were formed in 1963 in Kiruna by Tor-Erik Rautio, Tommy Wåhlberg, Staffan Berggren, and Svante Elfgren. Their first single "Gunfight Saloon" was released in the spring of 1963 and charted on both national radio hitlists. The group's breakthrough came with their 1964 single "Let Me Show You Who I Am", which topped the Tio i Topp charts. Their debut album Let Us Show You was released the same year. In 1965, they switched labels from Odeon to Columbia and released an EP with the Moonlighters. Notable singles include "Blue Feeling" (1966) and "Hi-Lili, Hi-Lo" (1966), both of which charted in 1966. Berggren left the group in 1966 due to creative differences, and Kit Sundqvist took over as songwriter. The Shanes disbanded in 1969 but reformed in the late 1970s. Berggren died in 2017, followed by Wåhlberg in 2023 and Rautio in 2024. Elfgren, the last surviving original member of the band, passed away on June 20, 2024.
