The Staatskapelle Weimar, based in Germany, traces its origins back to 1482 when a musical ensemble was formed for the Weimar Fürsten. The ensemble attained resident status at the Weimar court as the Herzoglichen Hofkapelle in 1602 and has since been associated with notable musicians such as Johann Sebastian Bach and Franz Liszt. In 1988, the ensemble was officially renamed the Staatskapelle Weimar. Throughout its history, the orchestra has had several prominent conductors, including Hermann Abendroth, who served from 1945 to 1956, and Kirill Karabits, who led from 2016 to 2019. The ensemble has performed in various venues across Weimar, including the Main House on Theaterplatz and the E-Werk Weimar. In recent years, Dominik Beykirch served as music director until his departure at the end of the 2024–2025 season.
