Like all stories of this era and subject matter, it is horrible to imagine that anyone ever endured such treatment, but of course we know they did. The writing is not sensational, it is almost matter-of-fact, but it is emotionally stirring none-the-less. You can feel the closeness of the boxcar walls and find yourself struggling for air and wondering how one holds on to hope through such an ordeal....more
