Unfortunately this novella wThank you BookSprout and Lia Frost for sending me this advance review copy for free. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Unfortunately this novella was very disappointing. I've read several other books in this series, and this one doesn't feel like it fits at all.
There was no romance, no chemistry between the characters, and it felt like Rianne was forced to form a bond with Stenrik to save the world, instead of it happening naturally. It felt like they were still strangers by the end of the book.
There was also very little worldbuilding, and it was a really confusing story. I wasn't able to quite figure out how everything worked, or the magic at all.
Overall if you are reading your way through this series, I would skip this one....more

This was a fun wintery quick read!
Vidar's winter powers, and awesome variations on his inhuman form were really good. The descriptions are amazing, and Vidar would be stunning to see in real life. Freya is one of those people that isn't afraid of anything too. Vidar is the softest cinnamon roll deep inside, and I love him so much.
The spice was plentiful and interesting. It was on the lighter side and not super intense on the spicy details.
There wasn't a ton of worldbuilding because it was a novella. However, the descriptions of everything were so lush and beautiful, especially the scenery. It was lovely to read.
Overall this would be a great novella to read on a cold snowy day....more

There was trauma, emotional growth, slow burn romance, trickster fun, and some smoking hot spice. It takes you on an emotional journey starting with tragedy and loss, and ends with love.
I adore Kireth and his trickster nature, and how he is totally willing to subvert the rules so he can stay long after what should have been 100 tasks. He is so sweet, and there are lots of cozy moments between the two of them. Faela was just trying to survive when the world keeps throwing more and more bad stuff at her every day. The HEA was so satisfying, and a perfect new beginning for them.
Overall this was a fantastic quick read, and it was so hard to put it down!...more

I loved this so much!
This was the sweetest second chance romance I've read in ages. It was so cozy and cute.
There was so much tension and emotion. You spend the whole time on the edge of your seat waiting for these two lovely idiots to kiss and make up already.
The vibe of "I'm leaving for your own good" hit deep, and at the same time being free to travel and fulfill your dreams is hollow without the one you love there beside you.
This is one you will want to read all at once, because it's impossible to put down....more

This was a really interesting book!
The photos were so delicious looking, and it was hard to read this without getting hungry. I really enjoyed the idea of seeing the food with a little poem to go along with them. It's always interesting to see what people eat in different parts of the world, especially when they aren't eating at home.
I think this would be a great coffee table book!...more

This was a strange book.
The worldbuilding was great, and it had a gothic spooky vibe. The descriptions were haunting and beautiful, and it gave me chills. Unfortunately the pacing wasn't good, and there were several points it was a slog to get through. The plot meandered all over the place too.
I couldn't stand the insta lust vibe. I think without that, the characters wouldn't have ended up together. They don't mesh well at all. It felt very forced and way to fast.
It wasn't a bad book, but not great either. I really enjoyed the world, the non-romance bits of the story, and the atmosphere. I think if it has been a regular fantasy story instead of a strange insta love romance, I would have loved it a lot more. ...more

This book was fantastic in every way! I was excited to see several of my favorite authors, and now I have a few new to me ones to check out too.
The quality of the writing was top notch. There wasn't a single story that I felt like I wanted to skip. It was so cozy, and full of warmth, love, and spicy goodness.
The characters were all interesting in their own ways, and the relationships were so beautiful. Even with a lot of them meeting for the first time, it never once felt like they were moving too fast. The spice was hotter than the yule log in the fireplace! There was a lot of variety in the spicy scenes, so it didn't feel like you were reading the same thing over and over in the slightest. I rally enjoyed the magical aspects, and the interesting creatures we met along the way too.
This is an absolute must read for anyone that loves spicy Sapphic romance!...more

This was not my cup of tea.
It was an endless stream of consciousness that made absolutely no sense. The format and writing style kept changing constantly, and there was no rhyme or reason to the whole book. I get that it's about psychosis, but this was random to the point of being unreadable a lot of the time....more

This was another fantastic book set in the Hillcrest Hollow world. It was so cozy and perfect, with a little dash of danger to keep things interesting.
I loved both Bianca and Ísarr, and the banter between them is so good. Ísarr is an anxious grumpy guy, with a warm cinnamon roll center. Bianca is really good at rolling with the punches, and not freaking out too much when weird stuff happens.
The chemistry between them is perfection, and I adore that it wasn't insta love at first glance. It took them a little bit to get over their issues and realize they were good for each other. The spice was hot enough to warm your cocoa!
I really loved getting glimpses of characters that have starred in other Hillcrest books, and it warms my heart to know they are doing well.
Overall this was a great cozy quick read to curl up with a mug of tea on a cold winter's day....more

This book took size difference to a whole new level! It was a super fun take on Jack and the Beanstalk, and is something I've never seen before.
It was so sweet and cozy, and the chemistry between the two of our main characters was lovely. It was a really fun quick read, and while there wasn't a ton of worldbuilding, we got just enough to understand the world and what's happening.
The spice was different than I expected, but in an awesome way. It's nice when oversized equipment isn't just crammed in. This was more imaginative, and I appreciate that!
Overall this is a nice cozy read to pick up and flip through in an afternoon. ...more
