Contest Rules

Eligibility
  • Participation is free with a Lore & Luster weekend-pass or two day passes.
  • Advance application is mandatory; character actors or hired staff may not enter.
  • Original romantasy-inspired characters are welcome—include a short description.
Costume & Prop Standards
  • Looks must remain PG-13: no nudity, hateful symbols, or excessive gore.
  • Props must be con-approved—no live steel, projectiles, or fire effects.
  • Respectful conduct is required; disruptive or discriminatory behavior leads to disqualification.
Performance Guidelines
  • Stage time is capped at 60 seconds unless pre-approved.
  • List your music selection on the application so tech can cue it.
  • Craftsmanship pre-judging may occur before the contest—details will be emailed.
Application Requirements
  • Complete the online form by April 10, 2026.
  • Include reference images or sketches when possible.
  • Agree to the Lore & Luster Code of Conduct.

Judging & Prizes

Criteria
  • Overall impact & silhouette.
  • Craftsmanship & detail (handmade and closet builds both welcome).
  • Stage presence, character portrayal, and romantasy storytelling.
Awards
  • Enchanted Spotlight — Best Overall (Judge’s Choice | $200 Market Spree).
  • Thread & Thorn — Best Craftsmanship (Judge’s Choice | Shelf Indulgence Gift Card $150).
  • Court Favorite — Crowd’s Choice (Curated Grab Bag).

2026 Contest Schedule

Preliminaries · Crowd Applause Format

Tacoma Armory · Main Stage · Parade Room Floor

  • Check-in & numbering at contest HQ.
  • Entrants take the stage for a short walk, pose, or character moment while the emcee introduces them.
  • Crowd applause determines the 10–12 finalists advancing to Day 2.

Finals

Main Stage Spotlight

  • Finalists reprise their walk/pose with optional tweaks.
  • Judges select Enchanted Spotlight and Thread & Thorn winners.
  • Audience applause crowns the Court Favorite.
