Disable post-processing effects
Mods no longer required for disabling some post-processing effects (as of version 1.4).
  1. Turn off "Cinematic Lens" in Settings > Graphics. Disables distortion, fringing, chromatic aberration, and lens distortion.

Alternatively, mods can also be used to disable certain effects, including depth of field, lens effects, TAA, bloom, and others.

Issues

Severe performance drops with RTX Direct Lighting (RTXDI) in specific areas

With RTX Direct Lighting (RTXDI) enabled, framerates can drop to unplayable levels in certain world "pockets" (reported e.g. on Akiva), even when RTXDI is set to Low.[11]
  1. Open SettingsGraphicsAdvanced.
  2. Reduce RTX Direct Lighting (RTXDI) to the lowest setting available, or disable it if an off-toggle is present.
  3. If the issue persists, lower the overall ray tracing preset (reflections/shadows/GI) to reduce compounded GPU cost.

Traversal stutter / streaming hitching

Short but noticeable hitches (frame-time spikes) can occur while moving quickly through the open world (traversal stutter), typically when new assets stream in. This is often worse on slower storage and can be amplified by heavy ray tracing workloads. Some Snowdrop-engine titles have also been reported to use unbuffered I/O (bypassing the Windows file cache), which can further increase sensitivity to slow storage and contribute to pop-in/loading stalls.[12]
  1. Install/run the game from an SSD (NVMe recommended).
  2. Avoid HDDs and very slow external drives; some community reports suggest aiming for storage faster than ~4 Gbit/s (≈500 MB/s) sustained reads to reduce streaming stalls.
  3. Optionally reduce Texture Quality and other streaming-heavy settings to lower asset bandwidth demand (especially on lower VRAM GPUs).
Optional / unverified for Star Wars Outlaws: try enabling OS-level file caching via a community "Disk Cache Enabler" (released for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, also Snowdrop) by extracting dinput8.dll and the plugins folder into the game installation directory. Remove dinput8.dll and plugins to revert.
