what is this?

this is front-facing-pokemon, a tumblr blog (currently) designed to post every pokémon in national pokédex order from the least flattering angle possible as viewed through a fish-eye lens and various other focal lengths!

why is it called front-facing-pokemon if not all the pokémon are front-facing?

because they used to be! we managed to get through the entire national pokédex facing directly at the camera as the first round, then swapped to "pokémon from the least flattering/funniest angle," as the second round, and now we've switched to fish-eyeing for the third round!

have you done (x pokémon) yet?

search for its name on this blog! every pokémon is tagged with their name. since we got through the entire national dex twice on different gimmicks, i can guarantee you we've done your fave at least twice!

will you do (x pokémon) next?

this is not a requests blog! it goes in national pokédex order

will you do (something that is not a pokémon)?

if it's not april fools day, then no! april fools is the only day i take requests, so if you see a post from me that looks like i took a request, check the date! however if you live in the eastern hemisphere they may show up as being april 2nd

when will you do (x pokémon)?

whenever we reach it in the national pokédex! find the national pokédex number of your chosen pokémon, subtract it from the national pokédex of the most recent pokémon you see, and divide that number by two, for two posts a day (minus mega evolutions and alternate forms), and you'll have roughly the amount of time you'll have to wait until your favorite pokémon arrives (again! because we've already done the whole natdex twice)

how do you decide which angle/lens is the least flattering?

you can vote on them in the front-facing-pokemon discord server! that's where we decide on angles and lenses for new posts (and technically this gives you sneak peeks of the upcoming posts like a week in advance!)

#growlithe #well thereis nothing to say. one of the perfect pokémon to be sure. one of the few things to like about kanto #if only it wasn't version exclusive with one of my OTHER favorite pokémon from kanto #however i seem to be yawning quite frequently as i queue this one up this morning #of course unrelated to the growlithe i am looking at #perhaps the growlithe makes me feel so safe so as to fall asleep with it…#imagine that. i always think sleeping next to a fire-type would be really nice bc they just radiate warmth

#venomoth #historically the other one that never renders properly. things like flygon and lurantis look fine because they have texture behind their #eye covering things #because. their eyes are actually part of the texture of their head #but with paras and venomoth‚ their eyes are just floating inside the orb #and… i guess when they render it just puts no texture behind them #because of something relating to the way that it culls or renders in game #i got no clue but i know that you can see Straight through their head and it's slightly annoying

april fools 2026 wrap-up

well, that was exhausting!

i didn't expect the turnout this year to be as big as it was last year (mainly because of the small amount of votes on the round 3 poll compared to the round 2 poll) but y'all absolutely delivered. bravo! just as last year, i've been compiling a sheet of all the ones i couldn't do for whatever reason and why. i've been calling this the "cringe compilation" in my head because i think it's funny, but of course, none of the askers in this compilation are cringe, because cringe is dead and does not exist. i just think the phrase "cringe compilation" is funny to describe a very normal compilation of images

this sheet is broken up into two categories (down from last year's three!): couldn't get the model (to work, at all, etc) and what
