I don’t want to be the grumpy old cormudgeon, stuck in the past, who looks at the younger generation reflexively with disdain, dismissing everything about them, antagonizing them even. I really don’t.
But I also cannot look at this and not hate it.
Does anyone else feel like the generation of new fad words is speeding up over time, to make up for the fact that adults catch on and start using the words themselves quicker due to social media?
Feels like once a week they meet up like “Damn! The adults have learned about ‘no cap’, we need a new term!” “How about ‘drip’?” “But we already have ‘on fleek’.” “That’s been lost to the millenials already!”
yes, and a lot of these words are recycled from older slang too
It’s very easy to look up new slang words to see what they mean with the internet, unlike in ye olden days. They have to constantly use new lingo to try to keep the olds confused.
Yes, but also I’m pretty sure every old person who ever lived since the invention of language has thought the same thing at some point.
